Initial Assays from Gowest's New Platinum Discovery in
Manitoba

The first ten assays have been received from our new platinum
group metal discovery in northern Manitoba at Cuthbert Lake
(Manitoba Open File Report 2000-5) about 30 km southeast of
Thompson. The assays from surface samples extracted from rock
trenches reveal that the platinum group metals are associated
with high nickel-copper values. Nickel ranges from 1.00 to 1.92%,
averaging 1.60 % and copper ranges from 0.22 to 0.61 %, averaging
0.50 % from four samples.

Of particular significance are the anomalously high values for
platinum group metals and gold associated with the nickel copper
mineralization. Combined Pd+Pt+Au (palladium+platinum+ gold)
values range from 1.9 to 2.5 grams, averaging 2.25 grams per ton.
The presence of the other platinum group metals, namely rhodium,
iridium, osmium and ruthenium, has not yet been checked. 

Additional assays from mineralization elsewhere on Gowest's
extensive holdings (1800 hectares) at Cuthbert Lake are expected
in the near future and will be the subject of an announcement
when all data is available.
