Progress Report: Gowest-Newstrike Joint Venture on Wawa Gold Property

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 16, 2005) - Gowest Amalgamated Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GWA) and Newstrike Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NR) -

Operator of the Joint Venture has completed 13 drill holes on the Wawa Gold Property. One core sample assayed 10.15 g/t gold and a few others returned assays in the order of 1 g/t. These values are not sufficiently encouraging to justify further exploration expenditure on the property.

The Joint Venture companies have decided not to renew their options on the Wawa Gold properties.
