OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 3, 2009) - Despite a down month, GM Canada delivered 18,959 vehicles in October – more than any other automaker in Canada. Calendar year-to-date, GM continues to be Canada's automotive sales leader.

"October was a challenging month for GM Canada. Our sales numbers have been impacted by the winding down of the Pontiac, Saturn and Saab brands and decreased inventory levels at our dealerships," said Marc Comeau, vice president, sales, service and marketing, General Motors of Canada. "However, response to the launch products from our four core brands Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac has been positive and we have taken steps to improve our inventory levels, including adding a third shift in Ingersoll to address the strong market demand for the new Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. In October, sales for the all-new Chevrolet Equinox were up 27 per cent."

Comeau added, "Due to positive customer feedback, we are extending our 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee until January 2010. Thanks to the Consumers Digest 2010 Automotive Best Buy Awards, customers just got another reason to buy GM. Fifteen GM vehicles, all from GM's four core brands, received Best Buy Awards - the most of any manufacturer - reinforcing the strong quality and value proposition we offer our customers."

October Sales Highlights

• The all-new Chevrolet Equinox, with its refined design, value, and segment-leading fuel efficiency increased sales up 27%. 
• The Chevrolet Camaro continues to be a highly-coveted vehicle, outselling its nearest competitor for the second consecutive month.
• Cadillac combined sales were up 5.4% for the month of October year over year. This increase was fuelled by the launch of the all new 2010 Cadillac SRX driving sales up 129.0% for the month.
• Sales of Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra crew cab pickups were up nearly 32% over last October. Overall sales of full-size pickups were up 4.5%.
• Consumers Digest 2010 Automotive Best Buy Awards recognized fifteen GM vehicles, which is the most of any manufacturer.
  • GM vehicles recognized include: Buick Enclave and LaCrosse; Cadillac SRX and CTS; Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, Equinox, Malibu, Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Traverse; GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, Terrain and Yukon.
